Well, all I can say is I'm very thankful we pulled this game out. It took 5 more innings that it should have, but we got the w and that's what matters. To lose this game would have been extremely demoralizing.
Let me give you a brief summary...after another stellar outing from Kason Gabbard, and homers from Jason Botts and Frank Catalanotto, the rangers were ahead 5-2 going into the bottom of the 8th. Joaquin Benoit could not find the strike zone and walked a run in. Wes Littleton then came in and got a double play ground ball but Ben Broussard made an awful throw to second which ended up in left field. Just like that it was 5-5. Littleton would do a tremendous job getting out of a couple more jams and was solid in relief. In the 14th, it took a wild pitch from AJ Burnett to finally scratch a run. A Josh Hamilton double would tack on another run before CJ Wilson would come in and close it out.
The frustrating part of this game besides Broussard's error was their inability to score a run with multiple chances in extras. They didn't score when they had the bases loaded with no outs in the 12th I believe, and Michael Young couldn't drive in a run with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.
Once the Rangers start playing good, fundamental baseball I still think they can suprise some people.
Stars of the Game:
1. Wes Littleton (solid relief)
2. Josh Hamilton (4-7)
3. Kason Gabbard/Milton Bradley (quality start/ continued 11 game hitting streak and 5 walks)
